DODGE

Revealed earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show, the Dodge Circuit EV has been finally confirmed for production. Lou Rhodes, Chrysler’s ENVI division president has stated that the automaker’s first all-electric vehicle will be launched next year. The electrified sports car will compete with mdoels like the Tesla Roadster, but at a lower cost.

VERITUS PREPAIRING

The RSIII roadster is not the only surprise that the German super car builder Veritas has in store for the automotive market. According to AutoCar, the company is also working on a coupe and SUV version of their unique vehicles. According to Michael Trick, Veritas will build 30 examples of the open air roadster and 30 of the hard top coupe, with the only resemblance between the two being the wheels. Mr. Trick also said that the future SUV will use a small aircraft engine.

AUDI R8

First it was Mercedes Benz who announced that they would be producing an electric version for the SLS AMG super car. Despite earlier reports, it is now time for the competition to make their move: Audi has announced that the R8 Eperformance electric sports car will make a Frankfurt debut. However we won’t see the production version in showrooms until 2015.

Scuderia, Stradale and Superleggera watch out! There is a new competitor in the super tuned sports car marketplace: the new Aston Martin LMV/R which stands for Le Mans Vantage Racer. The special edition factory hot rod is limited to only 30 units, the new LMV/R will be built by custom order at a specialty shop in Florida and then shipped back to the customer’s dealership of choice. The Le Mans inspired Vantage will be priced at $194,000 plus the cost of the Aston Martin.

CHEVROLET

Chevrolet is preparing to unveil a special edition Corvette in celebration of the Bowling Green, Kentucky based National Corvette Museum’s 15th Anniversary. This special edition National Corvette Museum Grand Sport Coupe is covered in Arctic White paint and features a unique blacked out section of the hood featuring a ghosted Jake, Corvette Racing’s mascot, in the center bulge surrounded by a red stripe. The National Corvette Museum logo is then incorporated into the B-pillar and adds the finishing touches to this special edition C6.

The American arm of the lightweight English sports car builder, Lotus USA, has announced that they will be offering a new Supercharger Kit for both naturally aspirated Lotus Elise and Exige models. The kit includes the same supercharger and cast intake manifold as the production Elise SC and allows owners who have decided that they rely did want that extra power after all by boosting their Toyota 2ZZ-GE engine.

The American upstart Devon Motorworks is planning to unveil the GTX super car at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concourse d’ Elegance. However before they bring the new production car to the greatest car show on Earth, the company meandered down the Monterey Peninsula for a stop at the Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca, where the new Devon GTX super car achieved a record setting time of 1:35.075, becoming the fastest production based automobile to drop into the corkscrew.

Mercedes and its Formula 1 partner, McLaren, have many years of experience with carbon-fiber that is conventionally used in the aviation and space industries. In an impact, carbon fibres have a level of energy absorption that is four to five times higher than that of steel or aluminium, while the weight advantage of this high-tech material over steel is around 50 per cent.
